Alien Tribe’s Improvisation With Feeling

Each Alien Tribe song starts with improvisation. Lia experiments with various sounds and rhythms until she finds something that expresses what she is feeling in that moment. She then starts recording. As she performs, she continues to improvise the sounds by adjusting various synthesizers while playing. This creates a more complex and varied sound because both the sounds and the rhythm go through changes during each recording session.

When her improvisation leads to a track she really likes, she will use that as the foundation to build the rest of the song from.

Yet, when you hear the final song, you might be hard pressed to recognize that first improvisational recording. That’s because more improvised sounds combined with multiple vocals tracks and additional rhythm have been added and deftly mixed together.
